Caring for window film is genuinely easy — a couple of simple rules keep it looking new for its full 10–15+ year life. Here's exactly what to do, and the few things to avoid.
First, let it cure
After installation, leave the film for about two weeks before cleaning. During curing you may see slight haziness or tiny water pockets — this is normal moisture escaping through the film and it clears on its own. Don't clean it or pick at any pockets during this period.
How to clean it
Once cured, clean filmed glass with a soft microfibre cloth or a soft rubber squeegee and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner — a few drops of washing-up liquid in water is perfect. Wipe gently and dry with a clean soft cloth. That's all it needs, as often as you'd normally clean your windows.
What to avoid
Don't use scrapers, blades, scouring pads or abrasive powders, which can scratch the film. Avoid ammonia-based cleaners on certain films (a mild soapy solution avoids the issue entirely). And don't clean during the curing period. Follow those and the film stays flawless.
General care
Treat filmed glass like any quality surface — no sharp objects dragged across it, and be gentle around the edges. Properly cared for, quality film won't bubble, peel or discolour within its warranty, and typically lasts well beyond it.
The bottom line
Let it cure for two weeks, then clean with a soft cloth and mild cleaner — no scrapers, abrasives or ammonia. That's the whole routine. See our Warranty & Guarantee page for what's covered.
