How to measure your windows for film

For a rough estimate, measure the visible glass. For the real quote, we do it — here's how it works.

If you want a ballpark cost before booking, measuring your glass roughly is easy — and for the actual quote, we measure precisely on the survey so nothing's left to guesswork. Here's how to get a quick estimate yourself.

Measure the visible glass

For each window, measure the width and height of the visible glass (not the frame) in centimetres, multiply them and divide by 10,000 to get square metres. Add up all the windows for your total glass area — that's the figure our Glass Area Calculator works out for you.

Count windows for a quick guide

If measuring feels fiddly, just count your windows — a typical window is around 1.5 m². Our Glass Area Calculator turns your window list into a total area in seconds.

Why we measure on the survey

Your estimate is great for budgeting; the survey is where we measure exactly, check the glazing for the right film, and account for access — giving a fixed price rather than a range. It's free and there's no obligation.

The bottom line

Measure the visible glass (w × h ÷ 10,000 = m²) or just count windows for a quick estimate, then let us confirm precisely on a survey. Try the Glass Area Calculator to start.
