General window film FAQs.
The basics — what window film is, how long it lasts, whether it can be removed.
What is window film?
Window film is a thin, optically-clear (or tinted or frosted) layer applied to the inside of your existing glass. It changes how heat, light, UV and visibility pass through the window — without replacing the window.
How long does window film last?
Quality architectural film lasts 10–15+ years for interior installations, backed by manufacturer warranties of up to 15 years.
Can window film be removed?
Yes — it's applied to the inside of the glass and can be cleanly removed later without damaging the window, which makes it ideal for rented and listed properties.
Is the film visible from inside?
Most solar, UV and heat films are virtually invisible. Privacy and frosted films are intentionally visible because that's their purpose.
Will it make my room dark?
No — modern films reject heat and UV while keeping the room bright. Only heavier privacy or mirror films noticeably change the look.
Does window film work in Scotland?
Yes — UV (which fades interiors) passes through cloud year-round, low Scottish sun causes glare, and modern homes and conservatories genuinely overheat in summer.
Do you cover my area?
We cover all of Scotland — based around Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dunfermline and travelling to Stirling, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen, Inverness and everywhere between.
Is it guaranteed?
Yes — our workmanship is guaranteed and the films carry manufacturer warranties of up to 15 years. See our Warranty & Guarantee page.
