Privacy film vs frosted glass: which is better?

Frosted film gives you the same look as frosted glass, for far less, and it's removable. Here's when to choose each.

If you want the frosted-glass look for privacy, you have two options: replace the glass with frosted (etched or sandblasted) units, or apply frosted film to your existing glass. For most people, film is the smarter choice.

The look is essentially the same

Modern frosted film convincingly mimics sandblasted glass — the same soft, obscured finish. Most people can't tell the difference once it's fitted.

Film is cheaper and faster

Frosted film is a fraction of the cost of replacing glass units and is fitted in a single visit, with no need to remove or reglaze anything.

Film is flexible

You can have frosted film cut to patterns, bands, gradients or your logo — and it's removable, so you can change the look later. Frosted glass is permanent.

When to choose glass

If you're already replacing a window or building new, frosted glass may make sense. Otherwise, film gives the same result without the cost or disruption.
