The most common window
film questions.
Is window film suitable for homes and commercial buildings?
Yes. Architectural window film can be installed on suitable glazing in homes, offices, schools, shops, hotels and other commercial properties. Different films are designed for privacy, solar control, glare reduction, UV protection, decoration, manifestation or glass safety. The correct product should always be matched to the glass and the result you want to achieve.
Does window film reduce heat?
Solar control window film can significantly reduce the amount of solar heat entering through glass. Performance depends on the film, glass type, window orientation and surrounding conditions. Our highest-performing solar films can reject up to 79% of total solar energy when correctly specified.
Can window film reduce glare without making a room too dark?
Yes. Window films are available in several shades and performance levels. Neutral and spectrally selective films can reduce heat and glare while preserving more natural light, whereas darker or more reflective films normally provide stronger glare and privacy performance. We provide samples so you can compare the appearance before installation.
Does one-way privacy window film work at night?
One-way privacy film relies on the outside being brighter than the inside. It provides effective daytime privacy under the right lighting conditions, but the effect can reduce or reverse after dark when interior lights are on. Frosted or opaque film is normally more suitable when privacy is required day and night.
Can window film be installed on double glazing?
Many window films can be installed on double-glazed units, but not every film is compatible with every type of glass. The glazing construction, coatings, condition and exposure must be checked before installation. We assess these factors and recommend a compatible film rather than applying the same product to every window.
How much does professionally installed window film cost?
The price depends on the size and number of panes, chosen film, glass type, installation access and property location. Because every project is different, we provide a tailored quotation based on measurements, photographs or a site survey.
How long does window film last?
Professionally installed architectural window film can last for many years. Its lifespan depends on the product, whether it is installed internally or externally, the direction the glazing faces and how it is maintained. We explain the relevant manufacturer-backed warranty for the selected film before installation.
Does window film block UV rays?
Selected professional window films block up to 99% of ultraviolet radiation passing through the treated glass, which can help slow fading affecting flooring, furniture, artwork and merchandise. UV is only one cause of fading, so no product can guarantee that fading will stop completely.
Will window film damage my windows?
Correctly specified and professionally installed window film should not damage suitable glazing. Problems are more likely when an incompatible film is applied without checking the glass construction, which is why we assess the glazing and select a film designed for that application.
How long does installation take?
Many residential installations can be completed within one day, although larger or more complex projects may take longer. Installation time depends on the amount of glazing, access requirements and the type of film being fitted. We provide an expected schedule with your quotation.
